Quiltmaker: Blanca Muir

Blanca was anxious to take this class because she wanted to design her own quilt squares. Being an experienced tailor, her sewing skills are great! She has chosen a monochromatic color scheme from some flower photographs that she had; blues and greens with highlights of yellow. She will be moving home to Peru soon, and has a special spot in her new home to hang this quilt. Please check on the students' quilts page to see some of her original designs!

Quiltmaker: Kay Dickson

Kay thinks she does not choose colors well, and I think this quilt proves her wrong! She started out with a cheerful paisley sort of pattern and built the color scheme from there. Though you cannot see it, her white on beige background fabric also has paisleys on it! Kay is a careful worker and her applique' squares are beautifully done.

Quiltmaker: Pat Stengel

The inspiration for Pat's color scheme is the drapery fabric in the room where she plans to hang her quilt. It's a gorgeous Asian inspired print with teals and peaches and bits of gold. Pat had never worked with batiks before, but has come to adore them as we all do! Though she was new to applique', Pat has made several redwork quilts, so she's not newcomer to fine stitching.

Quiltmaker: Julie Schmidt

Julie chose a monochromatice color scheme; bright greens and blues with bright yellow highlights. She let the fabric selection in the quilt store guide her; she found a fabic she loved and worked from there. Her very pale background fabric is a misty sort of color which is a lovely detail when you are close to her squares. Julie is an experienced quilter, having made some wonderful vests and quilts which have included applique', so her stitching is very well done!
